Technology Aquisition Services (TAS) provides state and local government with a
convenient, single source for competitively acquired
information technology products. You can realize significant savings
from our labor-saving support, technology recommendations, and collective
purchasing power. TAS provides an integrated suite of value-added information
technology purchasing services:
Acquisition
TAS manages vendor contacts and purchasing negotiations on your behalf, and all
products are competitively acquired in accordance with the state's Planning for
IT Investments: IT Investment Policy (Acquisition Policy) and IT Investment
Standards (Acquisition Standards). State agencies may obtain information
related to acquisition planning and policy from
DIS Management and Oversight of Strategic Technologies or by contacting
your
Technology Management Consultant. Local government organizations may be
subject to different acquisition policies and procedures.
Products are purchased using competitively acquired contracts and short-term
purchasing instruments, ensuring current market value and taking advantage of
special pricing conditions. Additionally, you benefit from the state's combined
purchasing power and the collective volumes generated by TAS.
Authority
The Department of Information Services (DIS) was formed through the
consolidation of the state's four independent data processing and
communications systems in 1987. DIS is a cabinet-level agency organized to
provide leadership, policy and service choices for the use of information
technology within state and local governments. The legislative intent in
creating DIS was to make government information and services more available,
accessible and affordable. The Legislature also created the Information
Services Board (ISB) to provide coordinated planning and management of state
information technology services. DIS provides staff support to the ISB. Chapter 43.105 RCW establishes the ISB structure and
outlines DIS' statutory authority.
Consultation
TAS provides independent, professional-level consultation to address your
specific information technology requirements.
TBS consultants provide assistance in building precise computing
systems addressing individual business requirements. Pricing, availability and
market conditions are also provided to help you make fully informed purchasing
decisions.
Eligibility
TAS may be used by all state agencies and political subdivisions. You must have
established a business relationship with DIS by completing a
Customer Service Agreement (CSA).

designed to reduce costs associated with acquiring, maintaining and managing
Microsoft software. Through this agreement we can offer state and local
government organizations the benefits of special discounts available to very
large corporate customers. You enjoy discounted pricing while ordering products

information on this and other purchasing programs go to the
current Microsoft Agreement.

Our centralized shipping, receiving, and record-keeping functions track all
products including serial numbers and related purchasing documents. Records can
be retrieved on demand for warranty returns and product upgrades. Order
consolidation and accounting services reconcile all vendor invoices and you
receive a single monthly bill for all purchases. Hardware and software
