The Department of Information Services (DIS) offers a set of tools, a facility, and functions to empower organizations to design the solution that best meets their business continuity goals. Clients define recovery time objectives, then set up the level of recovery that meets their needs using the DIS network, infrastructure, and data center.

Business Continuity Tools, Functions, and Facility
DIS provides business continuity services in Eastern Washington by leveraging Washington State’s high-speed fiber optic network around the state, other DIS infrastructure, and a third party data center.

Six node sites are spread across the State of Washington are set up to provide infrastructure, including:

  • Internet Connections
  • Domain Name Service (DNS)
  • Enterprise Active Directory (EAD)
  • Secure Gateway Services
  • Virtual Private Network Access (VPN)
  • DNS Failover Service
  • Time Service

A contract has been established to provide server hosting, which include:

  • Rack space (caged or not)
  • Power
  • Cooling
  • Connectivity to the IGN, PGN and  SGN
  • The option to extend your local corporate network through MPLS
