Leasing FAQs
What organizations are eligible to participate in the DIS Lease Program?
Washington State Agencies may participate. The Lease Program is supported
through the Office of the State Treasurer Certificate of Purchase to take
advantage of the shared service value.
What equipment can I lease through the DIS Leasing Program?
Desktop and Laptop computers, servers and printers from several manufacturers
are available. Configurations can be viewed on the
Western States Contracting Alliance (WSCA)
web site.
Can I order equipment with custom configurations?
Agencies may submit a request for approval of unique configurations to DIS. DIS
will approve requests for which agencies present a clear business need to
purchase outside the standard configuration.
What is the standard lease through this program?
DIS offers leases from 36 to 48 months in length. Lease customers must have a
completed Master Lease Agreement. A low monthly payment for equipment will be
invoiced by DIS. Warranties for equipment are serviced directly through the
vendors and manufacturers.
What happens when we reach the end of our lease?
Six months before your lease expires, DIS Technology Brokering Consultants will
contact your agency to let you know the date your contract will expire, and to
discuss options for the future.
What are my options at the end of my lease?
You will be asked to declare your intentions three months before the end of the
lease. Three-year leases may be extended for up to 12 months. Customers may
also request an "end of lease extension" for business reasons such as funding
delays, inadequate personnel resources to manage the installation of large
refreshes, or combining smaller refreshes into a single refresh – to last a
maximum of three months – at the same rates they have been paying. Equipment
can be refreshed under a new lease to expand technology solutions and meet new
needs.
What does DIS do with equipment once it is returned through the leasing
program?
Only the DIS Lease Program redistributes end-of-lease computers to Washington
school districts and schools through the C4K program.
How is the DIS Leasing Program financed?
DIS finances leases through the Office of the State Treasurer’s (OST)
Certificate of Purchase (COP) program. These leases are operational leases
only. This means equipment is returned to DIS at the end of the lease.
What is the goal of the DIS Leasing program?
The primary purpose of the lease program is to enhance statewide technology
accountability by providing centralized, convenient, low-cost operating leases
to state agencies.
